First organized in 2022, the first-ever picture book-creating for Children with Disabilities (CWDs) contest in Vietnam, namely "Paint Our Angels' Wings" was fortunate to receive the support from the mass audience and 75 outstanding artwork submissions. These artworks were then adapted into suitable formats for children with disabilities, supporting them in learning and developing cognitive abilities.
Continue with this success, Lawrence S. Ting Foundation (LSTF) officially organizes the 2023 "Paint Our Angels' Wings" contest with the aim of collecting more picture book submissions suitable for children with mental age under 10 years old, which will then be adapted into various formats to enrich the learning materials for children with disabilities.
Life is a colorful picture made from many little pieces, and children with disabilities are the special ones that possess unique shades of colors. With the main message: "Let us be a part of your story", LSTF hopes that the contestants can include a CWD character within their story, from which we can help enhance the community's awareness about the CWDs and the special needs they have in learning.
Within the timeframe of the contest, LSTF organizes 2 online Workshops to enable the contestants and those passionate with picture books can gain a thorough understanding about the perception of picture books and basic procedure in creating one in terms of content development and illustration.
