Lawrence S. Ting Foundation has re-visited Thanh Binh commune, Cho Gao district, Tien Giang province to implement the gratitude house construction project.

The project aims to respond to the call of local authority from Thanh Binh commune to join hands for poverty alleviation, creating better living conditions for poor households.

10 disadvantaged families were received our support to renovate and repair the degraded, decaying houses. Each house is worth from 50 to 70 million VND, in which LSTF supported VND 40 million, the rest amount was covered by the family contribution through the sense of local ownership & responsibility. The total funding amount for this project is VND 400 million. These members of the 10 households have encountered difficult circumstances due to lack of cultivated land, poor health, old age or severe illness but they all have the same desire to have a stable house to settle down.

With the acceptance and handover of gratitude houses in December, we expect that the new houses will provide not only a stable place to live, but also a motivation for poor households to climb out of poverty.

This is the second time our foundation has implemented a community support project at Thanh Binh commune. Previously, we supported the cost of building 12 new houses for poor households in the area.

This activity is also our commitment to accompany local authorities to improve the quality of life for people with difficult circumstances.
