Paint Our Angels’ Wings is a Picture Book Contest for Children with Disabilities (CWDs) organized by the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation since 2022. The contest aims to raise community awareness and provide better educational materials for CWDs in Vietnam.

Creating picture books just got easier!

Q&A

The final artwork must be in landscape format, A4 size.

The artwork must have a minimum of 12 pages, maximum of 32 pages including the cover, and the total number of pages must be divisible by 4.

The competition will open for early submissions on October 1st 2025.

Contestants who submit their artwork during the early submission period: From October 10th to October 17th will receive the advantage of having their votes counted higher.

The final deadline for submitting artwork is: 11:59PM on November 15th 2025.

To register for the competition, please create an account on the contest website first.

After successfully registering an account, contestants can register for the competition, register for Workshops and vote for artwork.

All contestants who register for the Paint Our Angels’ Wings contest can also register for Workshops (limited number of participants) within the framework of the competition.

Contestants who submit eligible artworks will receive Certificate of participation from Lawrence S. Ting Foundation.

For winning contestants, certificates will be sent in hard copy by post. For contestants who have submitted valid entries, certificates will be sent by email.

Hand-drawn or digital picture books are both accepted.

Please note that if the artwork is hand-drawn, it must be scanned into a PDF file and meet the size, resolution, and paper orientation requirements of the competition when submitted to the organizers.

The artworks will be scored based on 3 criteria: Content, Illustration and Meaningfulness by judges with high knowledge and expertise in picture book creation.

The scoring criteria and scoring scale will be specified in the competition Terms and Conditions.

Valid picture books after the competition will be added by Lawrence S. Ting Foundation to the digital library for disabled children in appropriate formats and posted on communication and education channels for non-profit purposes, as well as exhibited at the Children’s Art Exhibition (if chosen).

The competition is open to three groups of participants:
Group 1 – Students: Ages 6-17
Group 2 – College Students: Ages 18-21
Group 3 – Workers and Others: Ages 22-35

Contestants can register to participate individually or as a team (no more than 3 people). Each contestant can participate in the competition both as a team and individually. The members of a team do not have to be the same age, but they must all belong to one of the three age groups of the competition.

The children with disabilities character in the story does not have to be a human character and can be anthropomorphized, but it must be illustrated correctly with the disability of the character chosen by the contestants.
