“Wheelchairs of Love” for People with Disabilities in Ninh Binh, Tay Ninh and Dong Nai Provinces
In February and March 2021, our foundation has collaborated with local authorities and associations for people with disabilities in Ninh Binh, Tay Ninh, and Dong Nai provinces in implementation of the “Wheelchairs of Love” initiative to support local people with disabilities.
Specifically, through collaboration between our foundation with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ninh Binh Province, The Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans in Tay Ninh Province and the Red Cross in Dong Nai Province, nearly 500 wheelchairs, tricycles and rollators have been distributed to people with disabilities in these provinces.
The impairment of a body’s part does not mean losing abilities or values. For people with disabilities, the wheelchairs are not only means of movement but they also help them to connect to normal lives. Therefore, our foundation works to continue our “Wheelchairs of Love” initiative to all provinces and cities in Vietnam.
This initiative is one of Lawrence S. Ting Foundation’s annual activities since 2009. Until now more than 27,483 sets of wheelchairs have been distributed to support many people with disabilities cross the whole country of Vietnam, equivalent to the amount of USD 2 million (VND 43.7 billion). Through our continuous efforts in 63 cities and provinces, thousands of people with disabilities have become more confident and improved their quality of life and the barriers to their social inclusion are also gradually being removed.
