Outreach Service in Tan Phu commune, Cai Lay town, Tien Giang province
“We all gladly welcome doctors from the city to provide free medical examination and treatment to the locals. This is the first time we have ever had this type of session organized in our commune.”
This was the sincere sharing from Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam (81 years old) reflecting on the session of free medical examination and treatment, accompanied by medicine distribution for 200 disadvantaged local people. The session was jointly organized by our foundation, the People’s Committee and the Doctor Crew from the Veterans Association of Cho Ray Hospital on March 19 in Tan Phu Commune, Cai Lay Town, Tien Giang Province.

Continuing the mission of providing essential medical services, a crew of nearly 20 doctors – all highly-trained and dedicated, have come visit and provided the local people with general internal examination, abdominal ultrasound, blood pressure measurement, heart rate monitoring, dentomaxillofacial and otorhinolaryngological check-ups, as well as examination for eye diseases, from which they could get a grasp on the people’s health conditions and provide detailed treatment advice to the locals.

“We appreciate Lawrence S. Ting Foundation (LSTF) and all the doctors, and we truly hope that you can reach more places to provide support to many others,” quoted from Mr. Tam. Despite not living far from Ho Chi Minh City, people in the commune still face difficulties traveling to get medical check-ups due to diminished physical health, this session therefore has helped reduce medical examination costs and help raise people’s awareness about their current health statuses through being accessible to the essential medical services.

The prescribed medicine packages along with 200 gifts of necessity items from benefactors were also carefully wrapped before being handed to the people in Tan Phu commune on the way out. The smiles on their faces have always been the most meaningful gift, dispelling all the fatigue of the doctors and LSTF’s staff.

Our journey of bringing free medical services to many disadvantaged people constantly needs the companionship of sponsors and partner units. Our foundation appreciates all contributions that can enable us to provide more support to the community.
